Long ago, after a great battle, a kind man named Bhai Kanhaiya walked among the wounded soldiers carrying a goatskin full of water. He gave a cool drink to anyone who was thirsty.
But soon people complained: “He is giving water even to our enemies who fell in battle!” They brought him before Guru Gobind Singh to explain himself.
Bhai Kanhaiya bowed and said, “Master, I saw no friend and no enemy — I saw only your face in every single one of them.” The Guru smiled, gave him some healing balm, and said, “Now tend their wounds too. You have understood.”
