Among Guru Nanak's followers was a humble, loving man named Lehna, who served the Guru with all his heart and never hesitated to do the hardest or dirtiest task.
Once, a heavy bundle of wet, muddy grass needed carrying. The Guru's own sons refused, not wanting to spoil their fine clothes. But Lehna lifted it gladly onto his head and carried it, mud and all.
His humble, willing service shone so brightly that Guru Nanak chose Lehna to be the next Guru, renaming him Angad — meaning ‘a part of my own self.’
