Guru Angad believed that everyone — rich or poor, big or small — should be able to read and write and learn the Guru's hymns for themselves.
So he gave shape to the Gurmukhi script, a simple, clear way of writing the everyday language of the people, easy enough for children to learn.
He opened schools for children and encouraged healthy games and wrestling too, caring for both their minds and their bodies. Learning, he showed, is a gift for all.
