Guru Har Rai loved all living things tenderly. He wore wide robes, but he gathered them close as he walked through his beautiful garden, so as not to harm even a single flower or break a stem.
Once, a flower was brushed and its petals fell. The young Guru was so moved that he became even more careful, treating every plant and creature as precious.
He kept a garden of healing herbs and freely gave medicine to any who were sick, friend or stranger. Gentleness, he showed, is a great strength.
