Guru Hargobind was once held in a great fort, along with fifty-two princes who had been locked away.
When at last he was told he could go free, he said he would only leave if the princes could leave too. The keepers, thinking to limit him, said only those who could hold his cloak as he walked out could go.
So the Guru had a special cloak made with fifty-two long tassels — and every single prince held on and walked free. From that day he was lovingly called Bandi Chhor, the Releaser of Prisoners.
