Long ago, frightened people came to Guru Tegh Bahadur. They were being forced to give up their own faith, and they did not know where to turn.
The Guru's young son, Gobind Rai, said that such a wrong needed a truly great soul to set it right. The Guru chose to stand up for the right of every person to follow their own faith — even for people who were not Sikhs.
He gave everything so that others could pray in their own way. Because of his sacrifice, he is remembered as a shield for the helpless and a defender of freedom for all.
