Bhai Mardana was Guru Nanak's dear childhood friend and a wonderful musician. When the Guru set out to travel across many lands, Mardana went with him, carrying his stringed rabab.
Wherever they stopped, Guru Nanak would say, “Mardana, play the rabab,” and as the sweet notes rose, the Guru would sing his hymns of one loving God for all.
For decades they journeyed together, through forests and cities and deserts. Mardana's music carried the Guru's songs into countless hearts.
