When the special initiation water was being prepared for the new family of equals, it was stirred with a blade to give it strength and courage.
Mata Sahib Kaur, lovingly honoured as a mother of this new family, came forward and added sugar sweets to the water, so it would carry sweetness along with its strength.
It was a beautiful sign that true courage must always be joined with gentleness and kindness — strength and sweetness together, never one without the other.
