The Doctor and the Heartbeat

When young Nanak grew quiet and lost in thought, his worried family called a doctor, who took the boy's wrist to feel his pulse and find what was wrong.

Nanak gently smiled and said, “Doctor, you are feeling my wrist — but my ‘illness’ is not in my body. It is the ache of love for God, and that is no sickness at all.”

The doctor was amazed and humbled. He had come to heal an illness, and found instead a heart full of love and peace.
