Tired from his long journey, Guru Nanak lay down to rest. A caretaker scolded him angrily: “How dare you sleep with your feet pointing toward the holy house of God?”
Guru Nanak answered gently, “I am sorry. Please turn my feet in whichever direction God is not.” The caretaker began to move his feet around — but everywhere he turned them, it seemed the holy direction was there too.
He stopped, amazed, understanding the Guru's gentle lesson: that God is not in only one place, but everywhere, in every direction at once.
