Ravidas was a cobbler who mended shoes and loved God. A traveller, grateful for his kindness, offered him a magic stone that could turn iron into gold, so he need never work or want again.
Ravidas smiled and gently refused. “I am happy with my honest work and my simple life,” he said. “Gold would only fill my mind with worry over keeping it.”
He kept mending shoes, content and free, singing his songs. He knew that a peaceful, honest heart is a greater treasure than all the gold in the world.
