One Row, One Family

In the langar, there are no special seats, no high tables and low ones. Everybody sits down together in a long row on the floor — this is called ‘pangat.’

A wealthy merchant sits beside a poor labourer; a respected elder beside a little child; people of every background, side by side, sharing the very same food.

Sitting as equals, sharing one meal, everyone is gently reminded that we are all one family, no one above and no one below.
