A Meal for the Ants

As Guru Nanak and Mardana travelled, they often had very little food. Yet even when hungry, the Guru would scatter a few grains or crumbs on the ground for the ants and little birds.

“We have so little ourselves,” Mardana once said. “Should we not keep it all?” The Guru smiled, “These tiny ones are hungry too, and God lives in them as much as in us.”

He taught that true kindness leaves no creature out — not even the smallest ant.

🌱 A thought to carry away

Kindness that remembers even the tiniest creatures is the truest kindness of all.
