Where Everyone Sits Together

In the time of Guru Amar Das, a great emperor came to visit. But before he could meet the Guru, he was asked to do one thing first.

He had to sit on the floor in the langar, the free kitchen, in the same row as farmers, servants, and the poor, and eat the very same simple food.

So the mighty emperor sat with everyone else, and learned the Guru's beautiful lesson: before God, every person is equal and worthy of the same respect.
