ੴ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ, ਰਚਨਹਾਰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਮਰ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ। ਉਹ ਨਿੱਡਰ, ਦੁਸ਼ਮਨੀ-ਰਹਿਤ ਅਜਨਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਵੈ-ਪ੍ਰਾਕਸ਼ਵਾਨ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਉਹ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਖਾਣਾ ਪੀਣਾ ਹਸਣਾ ਸਉਣਾ; ਵਿਸਰਿ ਗਇਆ ਹੈ ਮਰਣਾ ॥

Eating, drinking, laughing and sleeping, the mortal forgets about dying.

ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ, ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਨੂੰ ਫਿਟਕਾਰਯੋਗ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਸਨੇ ਏਥੇ ਠਹਿਰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ।

Forgetting his Lord and Master, the mortal is ruined, and his life is cursed. He cannot remain forever. ||1||

ਜੋ ਤੇਰੀ ਘਾਲ ਕਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਸਗੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲੋ ਮੰਗਕੇ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੰਗਣ ਤੋਂ ਰੁਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ।

Those who serve You - what can they give You? They beg for and receive what cannot remain.

ਜੇਹਾ ਜੇਹਾ ਮੋਸਮ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੋ ਜੇਹਾ ਹੀ ਆਰਾਮ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹੋ ਜੇਹਾ ਹੀ ਸਰੀਰ ਖੁਦ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

As is the season, so is the comfort of the body, and so is the body itself.

I hear the thunder in the clouds, and my mind is cooled and soothed; imbued with the Love of my Dear Beloved, I sing His Glorious Praises. ||1||
