ਮੂਰਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ। ਆਪਣੇ ਬਚਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਹੋਰਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਖੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

The fool does not understand his own self; he annoys others with his speech.
ਮੁੰਢੈ ਦੀ ਖਸਲਤਿ. ਨ ਗਈਆ ਅੰਧੇ; ਵਿਛੁੜਿ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਏ ॥

ਮੂਰਖ ਦੀ ਆਦੀ ਆਦਤ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡਦੀ। ਰੱਬ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੜ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਸੱਟਾਂ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

His underlying nature does not leave him; separated from the Lord, he suffers cruel blows.

ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਡਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਭਾਵ ਨੂੰ ਬਦਲ ਕੇ ਸੁਧਾਰਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਗੋਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹੇ।

Through the fear of the True Guru, he has not changed and reformed himself, so that he might merge in the lap of God.
