A demon named Bhasmasura was granted a frightening power: whatever head he touched with his hand would turn to ashes. At once he grew greedy and dangerous, chasing even the one who had blessed him.
To stop him, Vishnu took the form of Mohini, a graceful dancer. Bhasmasura was enchanted and wished to dance just like her, copying her every move.
Mohini danced and, gracefully, placed a hand upon her own head — and the copying demon did the same, touching his own head, and so undid himself. His greed had become his trap.
