The Pandavas had a magic vessel that gave food until Draupadi, the last to eat, had finished — after which it produced nothing more that day. One evening, after she had eaten and washed it, a hungry sage and his followers arrived.
Draupadi was distressed; there was no food left to offer guests. She called on her friend Krishna, who came and asked simply, “Is there anything at all left in the pot?”
She found one tiny grain of rice stuck to its edge. Krishna ate it with delight, declaring himself satisfied — and at once the hunger of the sage and all his followers, far away, was satisfied too.
