Guha the Boatman's Friend

On his way to the forest, Prince Rama needed to cross a wide river. A simple boatman named Guha came forward and rowed Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana safely across.

Though Rama was a prince and Guha a poor ferryman, Rama embraced him warmly as a dear friend and brother, with no thought of high or low.

Guha never forgot that kindness, and served Rama faithfully forever. A great heart, the story shows, sees a friend in everyone.
