The Great Leap

Sita had been carried far away across the ocean to the island of Lanka. Someone had to cross the endless water to find her — but who could?

Hanuman remembered, all at once, how strong he truly was. He climbed a mountain, took a deep breath, and leapt — soaring over the waves like a comet, past sea-monsters and storms.

He landed in Lanka, found Sita in a garden, and gave her Rama's ring so she would know help was coming. His courage gave her hope when she had almost lost it.
