Rama in His Heart

Someone once gave Hanuman a beautiful pearl necklace. He looked at each pearl carefully, then bit it and threw it away. “Why do you waste such treasure?” the people asked.

“I am looking for Rama,” said Hanuman. “If Rama is not in it, it is of no use to me.” They teased him: “Then is Rama inside you?”

Quietly, Hanuman opened his chest — and there, in his heart, were the images of Rama and Sita, shining. Everyone fell silent, understanding the depth of his love.
