Namdev Runs After the Dog

The saint Namdev sat down to eat his simple meal of bread and ghee. Just then a stray dog snatched his dry bread and ran off with it.

Instead of being angry, Namdev jumped up and ran after the dog — holding out the ghee! “Wait, friend,” he called, “don't eat dry bread; let me add some butter so it tastes better!”

To Namdev, the hungry dog was no different from God himself. His love left no room for anger, only kindness.
