The Miser Who Learned to Give

Before he became a beloved singer-saint, Purandara was a wealthy merchant so stingy that he would not part with a single coin, even for those in need.

A poor visitor (the Lord in disguise, the story says) kept coming to ask for help, and again and again the merchant turned him away — until, through a gentle lesson, he saw how empty all his hoarding really was.

He gave away his entire fortune and spent the rest of his life singing of God and serving others, far happier than his riches had ever made him.

🌱 A thought to carry away

Holding tightly to everything makes us poor inside; giving makes us rich.
