Just as they sat to eat, hungry guests arrived — first one, then more, then a poor man with his dog. One by one, Rantideva gave away every last morsel, and the water too, keeping nothing for himself.
He felt no regret, only joy that others' hunger was eased. His boundless kindness made him greater than any feast or fortune could.
