A sage once turned a tiny mouse into a girl and raised her with love. When she grew up, he set out to find her the strongest husband. “The sun!” he thought — but the sun said clouds could cover him.
So he asked the cloud, who said the wind blew it about; and the wind, who said the mountain stopped it; and the mountain, who said little mice burrowed right through it.
“So the mouse is strongest of all!” laughed the sage. And the girl happily wished to be a mouse again and marry a fine mouse. She was happiest, in the end, simply being herself.
