On a hot, dusty day a thirsty crow flew far and wide looking for water. At last she found a tall pot — but there was only a little water right at the very bottom, far too low for her beak to reach.
The crow did not give up. She looked around and saw small pebbles lying on the ground. One by one, she picked them up in her beak and dropped them into the pot. Plip… plop… plip.
As the pebbles filled the bottom, the water slowly rose higher and higher, until it reached the top. The clever crow drank her fill and flew happily home.
