ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਪੜ੍ਹਦੇ, ਵਾਚਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਬਖੇੜੇ ਕਰਦੇ ਤੇ ਕੁਬਚਨ ਉਚਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਥਾਰਥ ਗਿਆਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।

The Pandits, the religious scholars, read, study and discuss the arguments; they do not understand. ||18||
ਬਿਖਿਆ ਮਾਤੇ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਏ; ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਕਹਹਿ ਕਿਸੁ ਭਾਈ ॥੧੯॥

ਪਾਪ ਅੰਦਰ ਖੱਚਤ ਹੋਏ ਹੋਏ ਉਹ ਭੁਲੇਖੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੁਲੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਕਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਖਮਤ ਦੇ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹੇ ਭਰਾ?

Engrossed in corruption, they wander in confusion; who can they possibly instruct, O Siblings of Destiny? ||19||
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਊਤਮ ਬਾਣੀ; ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਰਹੀ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੨੦॥
bhagat janaa kee aootam baanee; jug jug rahee samaaee |20|

ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ ਬਾਣੀ ਅਨੁਰਾਗੀ ਪੁਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਯੁਗਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਮੀ ਹੋਈ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

The Bani, the Word of the humble devotee is the most sublime and exalted; it prevails throughout the ages. ||20||
ਬਾਣੀ ਲਾਗੈ ਸੋ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਏ; ਸਬਦੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੨੧॥
baanee laagai so gat paae; sabade sach samaaee |21|

ਜੋ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮੁਕਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਤਿਪੁਰਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

One who is committed to this Bani is emancipated, and through the Shabad, merges in Truth. ||21||
